WHY WOULD I WANT TO TAKE
THIS WORKSHOP?
HEALING TOUCH FOR BABIES (HTB) workshop is a weekend experience into holistic babyhood and hands-on healing. With
the mechanization of medical care and high tech practices in childbirth, this hands on energy work method not only promotes
the natural capacity to heal, but also brings back the personal contact and spiritual context that an infant needs to be welcomed
into this world.
Infants have sensitive and sophisticated senses from early pregnancy. Expecting parents can enhance
their babies' emotional, mental, and physical health early on by beginning the bonding process from conception. Studies have
shown that infants who are talked to and who are wanted, become much healthier individuals than those who do not receive a
lot of attention during pregnancy.
In addition, complications during labor, birth trauma and subsequent separation
from the parents can possibly create long-term The HTB workshop is an energy-based program that teaches the concepts of clearing,
aligning, and balancing the infants' energy systems through touch. Body, mind, emotion and spirit are influenced by this therapeutic
process, thereby enhancing the capacity of self-healing.
WHO CAN TAKE THIS WORKSHOP?
This workshop is for anyone who has a love for babies and an interest
in maintaining their sense of inner security and optimizing their physical and emotional health. It is highly recommended
for parents who are expecting.
It is also a continuing education program for nurses and for massage therapists
and body-workers.
Other health care professionals, counselors, and any other individual desiring an in-depth understanding
and practice of healing work using energy-based concepts with infants.
WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE WORKSHOP?
There will be an introduction to the basics of energy systems
and Healing Touch interventions, although this is not a HT Level I equivalent. It will familiarize the participant with techniques
which they will practice and experience on each other, first. There will be an extensive presentation about the contents listed,
in theory.
DO I NEED PREVIOUS
HEALING TOUCH EXPERIENCE TO TAKE THIS WORKSHOP
No, it isn't necessary. We start from the beginning.
ARE THERE LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS?
The instructor will be giving several
sessions to demonstrate. Both mom (and/or dad) and baby are active participants. First will be an explanation to the parent
about what Healing Touch is. A history will be obtained from the parent, along with a description of the birth, and any pertinent
subsequent events. What follows is an energetic assessment, and a Healing Touch energy treatment. If the parent would like
to learn the technique, there will follow a more in-depth explanation. Then when the parents and baby leave, there will be
a discussion of the session, the effects and any observations. At that time, questions will be answered. Parents have responded
favorably to this event. So have the babies!!
WILL THE PARTICIPANTS BE ABLE TO PRACTICE ON THE BABIES?
We do our best as a joint effort of the
coordinator and all the students to recruit parents to volunteer their time on the second afternoon of the workshop so that
the students can immediately use what they have learned. Both parents AND babies receive healing treatments, and if
the parents are interested, we teach them a simple technique to take home for the future. The parents never want to
leave the workshop, they feel so nurtured by the experience. I have a letter that explains the experience to parents
that can easily be used for recruitment. No one has ever regretted coming.
WHO IS THE PROVIDER OF THE CONTINUING EDUCATION CONTACT HOURS?
The Healing Touch Program is approved
as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Colorado Nurses Association. In addition, the program provides continuing
education to doulas, massage therapists and body workers through the approval of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic
Massage and Bodywork under Category A. The certificates are mailed out within a few weeks after the workshop.
HOW MANY CONTACT HOURS ARE GIVEN
FOR THIS WORKSHOP?
There are 16 contacts hours granted for this workshop, which goes from 9 am - 6 pm for two days.
ARE THERE DISCOUNTS FOR STUDENTS?
Full time students with proof of ID are
granted a healthy discount. On the average, students pay around $125.
